Satin
or Column Stitches are stitches that zigzag back and forth so tightly that they create a column of thread. They are also called Satin stitches because they truly allow the sheen of the thread to stand out. The stitches are used mainly to create special detail, border fill areas and create most lettering. Fill Stitches are used to cover large fields of surface or to create patterns and textures that give depth to a design. The needle penetrates the apparel many times in this field of stitches and can be programmed to use many different stitch lengths and arrangements. A really good digitizer will be very familiar with how to do this as well as how to blend fills together to create shading and textures. Here are some samples of our designs that use fills . . .
